Kevin Pietersen described the Nagpur pitch as “the toughest I have played Test cricket on” after the first day of the final Test against India.Pietersen top-scored for England with 73 out of 199 for 5 but, on a day when England were unable to score off 483 of the day’s 582 deliveries, Pietersen admitted that the slow pace of the pitch had made batting a real struggle. He remained confident that England were well-placed in the game, however, suggesting the balance of their attack – with two seamers and two spinners – would prove crucial over the remainder of the game.India utilised four spinners on the first day, but the only seamer in their side, Ishant Sharma, was by far the most dangerous of the bowlers and dismissed both England openers, Nick Compton and Alastair Cook.”It is tough and it is the toughest wicket I have played Test cricket on in terms of trying to play strokes,” Pietersen said. “I think we have done okay at 200 for 5 but what the wicket is going to do from now on, I haven’t got a clue because it looks pretty similar to what it did when we started the day. The key today was to try and bat for as long as possible because I don’t think that wicket is getting any better.”My guess is as good as anyone’s in this room as to what that wicket is going to do. I don’t know, but goodness, it is slow.”I think we are in a position of strength, having two seamers. I found Ishant Sharma incredibly difficult to play today. All I know is that scoring was incredibly hard, especially against Ishant, so we hope Tim Bresnan and Jimmy Anderson can do us a really good job.”Pietersen was also impressed by the performance of Joe Root. The 21-year-old, winning his first Test cap, reacted to challenging circumstances with a composed innings that revived England’s hopes of setting a competitive first innings total. England slipped to 139 for 5 not long after Root came to the crease, but did not lose another wicket for the rest of the day as he and Matt Prior added 60 runs in 30 overs. On a pitch that may well deteriorate sharply, the time occupying the crease could prove almost as important as the runs scored.”Joe was brilliant,” said Pietersen. “He is his own man. He played some lovely cricket shots. He has got a good head on his shoulders. I always say never judge anyone after a couple of hours batting for England but he showed signs that he will have a very good Test career.”He didn’t need too much help. He came in there, and was scoring freely. He’s a good little player and a lovely man as well. He’s a good human being.”Pietersen accepted that it had not been the most entertaining day for spectators and suggested that the slow pace of play would have persuaded many to stop watching long before the close.”The Indians think that is the kind of wicket they can produce to pull the series back,” he said. “The viewers have got no interest in what I’ve got to say because they switched off four or five hours ago. It is an incredible challenge for the lads to see what we can get out of this over the next four days. We’ve had some incredible challenges over the last two or three years.”

الأهلي واجه بيراميدز على أرضية استاد محمد بن زايد في مدينة أبو ظبي، وحقق لقب السوبر المصري للمرة الـ13 في تاريخه.

وقال الشناوي في تصريحات تليفزيونية عبر قناة “أون تايم سبورتس”: “مباراة كانت صعبة جدًا، كان علينا ضغط من الجماهير، والملعب كان ممتلئًا، الفترة الماضية نسير بشكل جيد في إفريقيا والدوري والكأس”.

Another high-class, unbeaten, half-century from Ricky Ponting steered the Hobart Hurricanes to their third win of the tournament over the struggling Sydney Sixers.But only just.Chasing 155 for victory the Hurricanes were cruising needing just 22 from the last four overs with eight wickets in hand. But Travis Birt had a meltdown facing Luke Feldman in the 17th over. He gifted a catch to Kurtis Patterson at cover only for the youngster to grass the chance. Two balls later, still needing less than a run a ball, Birt swung hard for the fence and lost his off-stump. Owais Shah then faced three dot balls, before Moises Henriques and Sunil Narine delivered two overs costing just 11, to leave nine required from the last over.The equation became five runs off three deliveries before Henriques drifted onto Shah’s leg stump and was flicked fine for four to level the scores. The winning runs were less than convincing – a top-edged boundary over the keeper’s head – but the Hurricanes will take the win anyway the can.Ponting never panicked throughout his innings. He entered at the end of the second over with the score at 1 for 11, and got off the mark with a flicked six over fine leg. He was the steady head in a 75-run stand with Aiden Blizzard. The powerful left-hand batsman was promoted to open and showed glimpses of the form he displayed many years back when an integral part of the successful Victorian Bushrangers outfit.Blizzard, like Birt, was bowled by Feldman two runs short of a well deserved half-century. Ponting remained unperturbed. He was at his vintage best when long-time international team-mate Brett Lee forgot whom he was bowling to in the 16th over. The return of Michael Lumb from international duties appeared to be the spark they needed after they were sent in to bat by George Bailey.Lumb and Brad Haddin combined for 57 in the Powerplay before Haddin became the first wicket of the night. But his dismissal for 34, lbw attempting to reverse-sweep Xavier Doherty, embodied the Sixers tournament to date: unfulfilled starts at the hands of unusual decision-making. Lumb top-scored along with Steve Smith who was one of three wickets to fall to Ben Laughlin in the 18th over. Laughlin’s haul of 4 for 31, through a mix of slower-balls and yorkers, makes him leading wicket-taker of BBL so far.In the end the Sixers were 20 runs short of setting a match-winning total. Their fourth loss of the BBL might well have ended any hopes of defending their title.

وأعلن الزمالك اعتذاره عن خوض مباراة السوبر أمام الأهلي، بسبب عدم تنفيذ العقوبة الصادرة من لجنة الانضباط التابعة للاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم، ضد اللاعب محمود عبد المنعم كهربا، ليحل بيراميدز وصيف نسخة الدوري للموسم الماضي، بديلًا للأبيض للمنافسة مع المارد الأحمر على لقب كأس السوبر.

وقال بدر رجب في تصريحات عبر برنامج “بوكس تو بوكس” المُذاع على قناة “etc”: “في حالة اشتياق وتعطش جماهيري لرؤية لاعبي الأهلي في الإمارات، في ظل المستويات المميزة والعروض القوية التي قدمها المارد الأحمر خلال الفترة الماضية، وهو ما جعل هناك إقبال جماهيري كبير على حضور اللقاء”.

وتابع: “بالتأكيد تواجد الزمالك والأهلي سيكون أكثر جماهيرية، أما بعد اعتذار الأبيض وتواجد بيراميدز، لن تكون المباراة بنفس قيمة لقاء القطبين الكبيرين في السوبر”.

وأضاف: “أعتقد أن جماهير الزمالك ستحضر المباراة من أجل تشجيع بيراميدز، وكان الأفضل للأهلي مواجهة الأبيض، كانت ستصبح مباراة ذات رونقًا خاصًا، لكن في النهاية المارد الأحمر قادر على مواجهة أي خصم، لأنه يمر بمرحلة جيدة، وهناك دعم جماهيري كبير بشكل واضح”.

واختتم: “الأهلي في مرحلة تكوين جيل جديد، من أجل تمثيل الفريق في السنوات المقبلة، ولابد أن يكون لدينا سلوك رياضي جيد، وأن نتقبل ثقافة الفوز والخسارة، نريد إعادة الكرة المصرية إلى سابق عهدها بعدما نجح البعض في زرع التعصب الجماهيري بين مشجعي الناديين”.

A new Twenty20 all-India university tournament, backed by the BCCI and the Indian government’s Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), has been added to the Indian cricket calendar. The tournament, named the University Cricket Championship (UCC), is an extension of the annual all-India inter-zone university Rohinton Baria Tournament.The tournament was launched at a high-profile event – attended by among others, the actor Shah Rukh Khan, who was named its brand ambassador – in Mumbai by Indian news channel NDTV, along with the co-sponsors Toyota. It is also supported by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), which already holds the Rohinton Baria Tournament.The inaugural tournament will be played next month between the top eight teams from the Rohinton Baria – two from each of the four regional zones – who will be split into two groups of four each. The top four will qualify for the semi-finals. The matches will be telecast live, and the co-partner NDTV is also expected to do extensive programming for the championship.N Srinivasan, the BCCI president, said the board had always been supportive of such tournaments and the UCC would be another platform for university players. “The idea was recently approved by the BCCI’s Working Committee,” he said. “It will give more opportunities to university players and the viewership will make a big difference as it will enable people to see university cricket close at hand.”Minister of State, HRD, Shashi Tharoor, said the initiative would attract attention as it has sponsors and will be played in the T20 format. “There used to be decent crowds for university matches during my university days but the interest has dwindled over the years,” he said. “Right now, many teams don’t care if they don’t make it to the finals of the Rohinton Baria. This tournament is going to be a game-changer and university cricket will get a big boost from this initiative.”SN Puri, President of the AIU, also seemed excited by the idea of the new tournament. “The Rohinton Baria tournament was losing its shine,” Puri told ESPNcricinfo. “This new format is becoming popular, so young people should come forward. University students find it hard to take out time for both Vizzy Trophy and Rohinton Baria as both have three-day matches. This new T20 tournament will save them time and will provide exposure to the format too.”Shah Rukh Khan accounted for the event’s glamour quotient but his ties with cricket are well-known – he is the co-owner of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. He also represented his university team in cricket, football and hockey.

– Acho que há pessoas que já jogaram futebol e têm plenas condições de exercer funções executivas. O mais importante é que os clubes entendam o perfil do profissional que eles estão contratando. Não cabe ao profissional, por si só, julgar se ele deve se capacitar ou não, fazer cursos ou não, se só o conhecimento que ele possui já é o suficiente. Na verdade, cabe ao clube avaliar se o perfil da pessoa que ele vai contratar está dentro do desejado – argumentou.

Para Ximenes, no mercado do futebol, não há muito o hábito de se planejar e pensar em um perfil que se encaixe nas necessidades de cada clube. Porém, o executivo acredita que há sempre lugar para quem se prepara.

– O mercado se movimenta e tem vida própria. É uma escolha que o mercado tem feito e acredita que existam ex-jogadores extremamente capacitados, como existem ex-treinador também capacitados para a função. O mercado está aí para todo mundo, é competitivo e as pessoas, se capacitando mais e apresentando melhores trabalhos, vão naturalmente se encaixar nas melhores funções. Faz parte do mercado e encaro isso de uma forma absolutamente natural – afirmou.

Felipe Ximenes ressaltou que, muitas vezes, os clubes contratam profissionais que não possuem a habilidade para a função que devem desempenhar.

– Quem decide se deve se capacitar ou não é o próprio profissional, seja ele um graduado em educação física, ex-jogador ou ex-treinador. Quem deve pensar antes de contratar são os clubes, para saber se estão fechando com um profissional com o perfil que ele realmente espera – avaliou.

كشف مصدر باتحاد الكرة المصري، أن منتخب باراجواي طلب إقامة ودية مع منتخب مصر خلال معسكر شهر سبتمبر المقبل.

وقال المصدر لـ بطولات: “منتخب باراجواي طلب مواجهة مصر في التوقف الدولي لشهر سبتمبر، وذلك بعدما رفض البرتغالي روي فيتوريا المدير الفني للفراعنة مواجهته في معسكر يونيو”.

وأضاف: “منتخب باراجواي مازال يتمسك بمواجهة مصر، وعرض أن تكون المواجهة في سبتمبر، سواء في القاهرة أو في إحدى الدول الخليجية”.
