Former Aston Villa defender and now Football Insider pundit Alan Hutton has been giving his thoughts on the club’s reported interest in Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe.

The Lowdown: Tuanzebe a top target

Villa look set to spend big again this summer, and according to Football Insider, they are in the market for a new centre-back.

Tuanzebe appears to be a player of interest for sporting director Johan Lange, with reports claiming the 23-year-old is a top target. A fee of just £7m could be enough to bring him to Villa Park on a permanent basis, with the defender making 35 appearances on loan in the Midlands.

He has only made 34 appearances for Manchester United, with his latest coming in the 2-1 defeat to Leicester City last week.

The Latest: Hutton reacts

Speaking to Football Insider on the transfer update, Hutton seemed to be all for a deal for Tuanzebe, believing that the defender ‘has the attributes to be a top, top defender’. The Scotland international said:

“I think it’s an absolute steal. £7million for a young, English, talented football player that has got so much to give.

“We’ve obviously seen glimpses of him at Villa – well, not a glimpse but you know what I mean. We can see what he can do and I think he’s only going to get better.

“Obviously, coming to Villa, he’s got a fight on his hands, whether it be with Konsa or Matty Cash. I think it’s one that he will stand up to and he’ll want to fight to get in that team.

“If he does, he’s only going to get better, which means his value is only going to go up. This is the type of player I think Villa are going to target. Someone that’s going to come in hungry and willing to get better.

“You never know where he could end up in the future. I think he’s got all the attributes to be a top, top defender.”

The Verdict: Tuanzebe deal should be a no-brainer

In our opinion, for just £7m, Villa should be looking to make Tuanzebe their first summer arrival.

He helped Villa to promotion under Dean Smith in 2019 and will know what it takes to play at Villa Park. He may not immediately come in for Tyrone Mings or Ezri Konsa, but having that competition could be crucial for Smith’s side to progress even further.

Tuanzebe has also played as a full-back and a defensive midfielder during his career, so he could also fill in if needed in those positions.

His Transfermarkt valuation stands at just over £7m, and at just 23 years of age, it could turn out to be an inspired piece of business down the line if he is brought back to Villa Park.

قال الدكتور أحمد أبوعبلة، رئيس الجهاز الطبي بالفريق الأول لكرة القدم بالنادي الأهلي، أن حمدي فتحي لاعب وسط الفريق، سوف يخضع لفحص طبي للاطمئنان على حالته بعدما اشتكى من آلام بسيطة في العضلة الخلفية خلال مشاركته في مباراة بيراميدز التي فاز بها الأحمر بثلاثة أهداف نظيفة في بطولة الدوري المصري.

وأوضح أبو عبلة في تصريحات للموقع الرسمي للنادي الأهلي، أن اللاعب شعر بثقل خفيف في العضلة الخلفية، وسوف يخضع للفحص في ظل رغبة الجهاز الفني في التأكد من جاهزيته قبل المشاركة بالمران.

وأضاف أن حسين الشحات لاعب الفريق سوف يخضع لفحص طبي بعدما شعر بآلام في عضلة السمانة خلال مشاركته في لقاء بيراميدز.

وأوضح أن الفحص المبدئي للاعب مطمئن، وأن قيامه بإجراء أشعة السونار يأتي من أجل الوقوف على حالته بشكل دقيق قبل تحديد موقفه من المشاركة في التدريبات.

ويسعى الجهاز الطبي للاطمئنان على حالة اللاعبين قبل المشاركة في تدريبات الفريق بجوهانسبرج؛ استعدادًا لمواجهة فريق صن داونز الجنوب إفريقي يوم السبت المقبل في الجولة الرابعة من دور المجموعات بدوري أبطال إفريقيا.

The Latest: Levy wants Rodgers

It is now being reported that Levy and Spurs are eager to appoint Rodgers, who has always been their preferred choice for the job.

They are hoping that a Tottenham win against the Foxes this weekend will convince Rodgers to make the move to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, given that it would place both teams into the same European competition.

The Verdict: Aim high

Rodgers has done a fantastic job with Leicester. He led them to the first F.A Cup trophy in their history earlier this month as they beat Chelsea 1-0 in the final at Wembley, while they remain in with a chance of qualifying for the Champions League going in to the final day of the Premier League campaign.

He has won eight trophies throughout his career, with seven coming at Celtic in his previous job. He was also on the verge of winning the Premier League with Liverpool in 2014 – quite frankly, he has more than enough credentials to be given the Tottenham job. A Spurs victory this Sunday could be crucial in more ways than one.

In other news, Levy planned for Harry Kane’s departure months ago.

A demissão de Oswaldo de Oliveira não vai sair barata para o Corinthians. Um dia após o anúncio do fim do trabalho de apenas dois meses, o clube divulgou uma nota oficial para esclarecer dúvidas e explicar a multa prevista no contrato de trabalho do treinador: dois meses de salários em caso de demissão.

Somada a remuneração e outros encargos, como férias e décimo terceiro salário, o Corinthians terá que pagar cerca de R$ 1 milhão ao treinador de 66 anos. Oswaldo tinha contrato válido até dezembro de 2017 e não esperava a demissão precoce – tanto é que já havia planejamento em curso para a próxima temporada.

“O Sport Club Corinthians Paulista esclarece, através desta nota, a informação sobre a multa rescisória que pagará ao ex-treinador Oswaldo de Oliveira. A quantia fixada em contrato é de dois salários. Como dito na última quinta-feira (15), em entrevista coletiva do presidente do Corinthians, Roberto de Andrade, o clube arcará com todos compromissos firmados em contrato com Oswaldo”, explicou o clube no comunicado.

Oswaldo de Oliveira comandou o Corinthians em nove partidas, com duas vitórias, quatro empates e três derrotas. O time não passou das quartas de final da Copa do Brasil e terminou o Brasileirão em sétimo, ou seja, sem vaga na próxima edição da Libertadores.

Celtic are in the middle of a hefty period of transition.

The Hoops are swaying away from the experienced heads of Leigh Griffiths and Scott Brown to a younger variety of player.

It’s a policy that has already seen the Bhoys welcome Liam Shaw to the club in time for the manager’s appointment at Parkhead.

On the chalkboard

Celtic’s migration in transfer policy is a timely one with players like Karamoko Dembele breaking into the senior set-up. They are fortunate to have young Celtic defenders Stephen Welsh, Leo Hjelde and Adam Montgomery rising through the ranks too.

Montgomery and Welsh made their first-team breakthroughs this term but Hjelde is yet to earn senior minutes for the Hoops. Instead, he enjoyed a loan spell at Ross County in the back half the campaign, earning lofty comparisons to a certain Virgil van Dijk.

With those three players in mind, it would appear that Celtic’s future in defence looks like a solid one.

That said, the Bhoys are aiming to bolster their ranks by bringing another special young talent to Paradise, with Barcelona defender Mika Marmol catching their eye.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Celtic, Getafe and Mallorca have all enquired about his availability.

At the age of 19, Marmol is very much one for the future, and he’s a player who would be perfect for Howe and Celtic. Described as a “manager’s dream” by David Bravo of Barca Universal, he possesses all the modern-day qualities that any coaches would love in a defender.

Having progressed through the famous La Masia academy, he is adept at playing with the ball at his feet; an area where Hjelde has also shown encouraging signs.

This is important due to the large levels of possession Celtic enjoy per game, and because they’ve enjoyed great success with a ball-playing defender in their ranks such as Kristoffer Ajer. Coincidentally, they are both able to play in wide and central areas.

Capable of featuring at centre-back or left-back, Marmol offers great versatility and the ability to be a threat going forward.

Talking about the Spaniard’s strengths, Bravo added: “As a natural left-back, he continuously contributes to attack with his forward runs and, mostly, his pinpoint crosses. When he is in a static position, he’s able to raise his head, pick his target and deliver an exquisite cross with his delicate left foot.

“His biggest attribute is his positioning and reading of both offensive and defensive actions. His brain and positional intelligence is well above the average. His decision making is truly admirable, and this tends to be the difference-maker for footballers.”

When playing in the middle of defence, Marmol provides plenty of physical qualities, an area of his game where he has reportedly developed well this season.

An unknown quantity at senior level, this would be a shrewd addition from the Celtic hierarchy and it should play into the new manager’s hands nicely. The youngster’s playing style seems perfect for the 43-year-old.

ويحل برشلونة مساء غدًا الأحد ضيفًا ثقيلًا على ريال مدريد، في تمام الساعة العاشرة مساءً بتوقيت القاهرة، ضمن لقاءات الجولة التاسعة والعشرين من الدوري الإسباني.

وتغادر بعثة بيراميدز في العاشرة من صباح السبت على متن طائرة خاصة وفرتها إدارة النادي للاعبين على أن تصل بنغازي في رحلة مدتها ساعتين، ويخوض الفريق تدريبه الأخير والختامي في التاسعة مساء السبت بملعب شهداء بنينة الذي تقام عليه المباراة.
