Manchester United should consider themselves fortunate they picked up all three points after the Red Devils edged to victory in a gruelling encounter with West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday night.

Several players were at fault for the poor performance, especially in the second half as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side survived a controversial penalty call, before referee David Coote pointed to the spot at the other end only moments later.

Bruno Fernandes forced a fine save from Baggies goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, although he was handed a reprieve by the referee after the former United keeper was adjudged to have strayed well off his line, with Fernandes firing into the top corner with his second attempt.

Marcus Rashford, who has been in such red-hot form this season, was uncharacteristically underwhelming, as he only managed to win seven out of 13 ground duels and missed one big chance, whilst Juan Mata didn’t offer much going forward either, with zero shots on target all game.

But it was Anthony Martial who massively let Solskjaer down with his disappointing display, as he has once again failed to find the back of the net in the Premier League so far this season.

The £54m-rated beast (via Transfermarkt) was rather wasteful leading the line, as he lost possession a staggering 18 times, which was more than Mata and Rashford. He also missed one big chance and delivered just one key pass throughout the game, via SofaScore.

Quite why the Frenchman played the full 90 minutes we’ll probably never understand, especially when you consider the fact that United were clinging on to a one-nil lead in the second half.

Martial took 60 touches of the ball, so he should have been able to spearhead the attack, but this wasn’t the case as the misfiring striker only managed just two shots on target, only to be denied by Johnstone with two excellent saves on both occasions.

He received an average rating of 7/10 for his efforts from 90min, who claimed he ‘should have broken the deadlock with a simple scoring chance early on, but couldn’t fire past Johnstone’ and added he was ‘kept under wraps for the rest of the game,’ whilst Samuel Luckhurst was even more scathing in his assessment, noting he ‘had an early header saved before he squandered a gilt-edged chance soon after’ and accused him of ‘going through the motions at times.’

Paul Scholes recently criticised the 24-year-old following the defeat by Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League for his “non-existent” movement as the Red Devils suffered their second defeat in four days after being humbled by Arsenal, which paints an all-too familiar picture.

Solskjaer should have taken Martial off long beforehand to save him from further embarrassment as he once again failed to make much of an impression.

Leeds United were unable to continue their encouraging run of form as they were stopped in their tracks by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

In the end, even goalkeeper Illan Meslier managed more touches and passes than Harrison.

The Man City loan star also won just 44% of his nine duels, both aerially and on the ground, and failed to deliver a cross from three attempts. From his 39 touches, Harrison even lost possession 11 times and failed to get a shot on target, via SofaScore.

It was a shocking performance all round and undoubtedly, he let Bielsa down as his first-choice and usually dependant winger.

LeedsLive’s chief reporter Beren Cross graded the £45k-per-week star’s performance a five out of ten, and claimed: “Quiet all evening. Much of United’s best stuff came down the right flank and Harrison looked away from the main thrust of the game.”

That merely reinforces the fact that it was an off-night for the anonymous Harrison.

The €15m-rated (£13.5m) dynamo will have to do a lot better with fixtures against the three United’s, West Ham, Newcastle and Manchester, before Christmas.

وأتمت: “ثم قمت بالنداء باسمه، لقد جاء إلي كنت فقط في حالة صدمة وأبكي قائلة هل يمكنني الحصول على قميصك؟ من فضلك، من فضلك أنا معجبة كبيرة للغاية، كان يقول لي هل أنت بخير؟’.

بعد اطمئنانه على أديسون، سلم رونالدو الفتاة الصغيرة قميصه وتم اصطحابها أخيرًا خارج الملعب.

وأضافت البالغة من العمر 11 عامًا: “عندما رآه والدي وهو يخلع القميص، كان وجه والدي في حالة صدمة، وأنا كنت أقول يا إلهي، هذا هو، هذا حلمي، لقد تحقق أخيرًا، ربما كانت هذه هي المرة الأخيرة التي يلعب فيها في أيرلندا، وقال رونالدو إنني أقدر ذلك وكل شيء”.

Since arriving from Porto in a big-money deal back in the summer transfer window, it’s fair to say it’s been a slow start for Fabio Silva at Wolves.

The 18-year-old has understandably been eased into life in English football, with just 142 minutes of Premier League football spread out over six games – his only starts for the club have come in the Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy.

But with Raul Jimenez being forced out of action with a sickening clash of heads in the game against Arsenal a couple of weeks ago, there has surely never been a more perfect time for Nuno Espirito Santo to unshackle his teenage prodigy.

Silva’s potential is undoubted among those in the Wolves camp, with Jeff Shi waxing lyrical about his new signing a few months ago. He said: “Our recruitment team have been watching Fabio since he played for Portugal Under-16s. They feel he has always been the best number nine coming through his age group anywhere in Europe.

“Fabio is a young player who shows not only incredible technical ability, but also his game intelligence for a player of his age is top class.”

And with Saturday’s opponents in the Premier League, Aston Villa, coming into the game off the back of two successive defeats against the likes of Brighton and West Ham, Silva has a perfect opportunity to hand Silva his first start in the top-flight.

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that changes are on the cards for Everton when they host Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Wednesday night.

The Toffees welcome Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils back to Goodison Park for the second time in two months looking to avenge a 3-1 Premier League defeat and secure progression through to the semi-final of the EFL Cup for the first time since 2016.

Everton lost 4-3 on aggregate to Manchester City the last time they reached the final four, and have not gone all the way to the final since finishing as runners-up during the 1983/84 season in the sole domestic competition the Blues are yet to ever win.

So, with changes likely from the side which beat Arsenal at the weekend as Ancelotti looks to rest and rotate his favoured players over the hectic festive schedule, here’s a line-up the Italian could name…

Jordan Pickford’s relentless stay between the Everton posts in Premier League games was brought to an end when the goalkeeper was benched at Newcastle United earlier this season before again being rested at Leicester City last week, and he may find that Robin Olsen earns the gig against United in the midweek Carabao Cup clash.

Ancelotti has confirmed he is yet to decide on who starts on Wednesday night, but wishes to name as strong a side as possible.

“I didn’t decide yet for tomorrow but for sure because we are going to play a lot of games, I’m going to rotate the goalkeepers,” the former Chelsea boss said, via quotes by the Liverpool Echo. “If Jordan plays tomorrow, then Robin will play against Sheffield United or vice versa.”

The performances of defenders Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina against Arsenal should see the trio retain their starting places alongside midfielders Abdoulaye Doucoure and Gylfi Sigurdsson plus wing maestro Richarlison in Wednesday’s cup meeting.

Mason Holgate, despite impressing, may find that he misses out, though, after Seamus Coleman made his return from a hamstring injury as a late substitute in the weekend’s win.

Question marks also reside over Tom Davies’ involvement against the Red Devilswith him having struggled to fill Allan’s void at home to the Gunners, with Andre Gomes a potential replacement should Ancelotti consider a more attacking box-to-box presence.

Ancelotti will be without summer arrival James Rodriguez after noting the Colombian has failed to overcome a calf injury in time, despite hopes of the 29-year-old being fit to face United, and he will now look to the Sheffield United game for his return.

Alex Iwobi has stood in for the former Real Madrid playmaker in recent weeks yet he too could sit out to afford academy graduate Anthony Gordon, who David Unsworth lauds as a “special talent”, only his second first-team start of the season after three assists in the early EFL Cup rounds.

Cenk Tosun will be hoping he, too, earns a rare start against United in place of top-scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with the Carabao Cup clash a potential final chance for the in-demand striker to put in a performance that could save his Goodison Park future.

Calvert-Lewin has started all 14 of Everton’s Premier League games and two of their three EFL Cup ties, scoring 14 times and providing one assist, while not missing a minute of top-flight football since matchday two in September.
