A reação empregada pelo comandante foi impecável, com aproveitamento de 70% dos pontos, desempenho que tirou o Santos da zona de rebaixamento e levou à final da Copa do Brasil. Nas últimas semanas, a equipe que beliscou o G4 perdeu essa condição, e chega à ultima rodada do Brasileirão já sem chances. Para piorar, o título da Copa do Brasil foi perdido para o Palmeiras, nos pênaltis.

E agora? Sem a vitrine da Libertadores, o Peixe sofrerá para manter seus principais craques, como Lucas Lima e Gabigol. Sem a grana da Libertadores, o planejamento financeiro será mais complicado. Mas no geral, poderia ser bem pior.

Alheio ao pré-contrato que o lateral-direito assinou com Osmanlispor (TUR) no meio do ano, o Galo registrou, na noite de terça-feira, vínculo do jogador até 31 de dezembro de 2018.

O jogador de 26 anos chegou a assinar um pré-contrato com o clube turco por dois anos, e posou com a camisa do Osmanlispor. Porém, logo em seguida se arrependeu e, ao voltar a fazer parte do elenco do Galo, destacou-se na reta final do Brasileirão.

À época, o Atlético-MG entendeu a atitude do Osmanlispor como aliciamento, e ameaçou acionar o departamento jurídico. A multa para quebra de contrato gira em torno de US$ 1 milhão (cerca de R$ 4 milhões).

Em meio ao impasse, a imprensa mineira especula que Patric vem recebendo propostas de clubes do exterior.

Liverpool have been hit with some curveballs in their pursuit of Wolves winger Adama Traore. The Spaniard has been on Jurgen Klopp’s radar throughout the summer and a lot of speculation surrounded his position at the Midlands outfit. After making a name for himself as a handful on the right-hand side, a lot of clubs have been circling the playmaker.

Traore has been valued at a hefty £64million, which is seemingly money Liverpool don’t have to spend. However, should they lose kingpin figure Mohamed Salah at all, they will have a big hole to fill in their squad.

Could Salah leave Liverpool?

Speaking to voetbalzone.nl (via football365.com), a Premier League agent and friend of Ronald Koeman claimed the Barcelona manager wants to bring the Egyptian to Spain. Salah reportedly would also like to see a move come to fruition, which means should the Catalonians come knocking once again on Liverpool’s door, the Reds could risk losing their star talent.

Transfermarkt currently value Salah at a mammoth £108million, so any potential bids would likely need to exceed this figure. Should Liverpool ever decide to cash in on the winger, they would pocket a very handsome profit, with more than enough to purchase Traore.

Liverpool’s battle for Traore

Klopp has already made it known that he is an admirer of Traore, labelling him as “unplayable” when the two locked horns in the Premier League last season. His pace and strength plus a keen eye for a goal could be an ideal replacement for the equally pacy Salah.

Should Liverpool take their interest further, they will need to battle Manchester City and ironically, Barcelona. According to Marca, Koeman is also keen on Traore, which could be a smokescreen in his attempt to get his hands on Salah. However, Man City will also drive a hard bargain and won’t be afraid to throw money at a statement transfer.

But it’s not just the preying clubs who Liverpool have to worry about. Wolves are reportedly close to announcing a big extension on Traore’s current contract, which will tie him to the club for another four years. It seems that Nuno Espirito Santo is more than aware of the attention he has attracted and wants to make sure he stays at Molineux. A bumper deal worth double his weekly wages has been tabled and the Spaniard is said to have agreed the terms in principle.

If Traore has penned a new deal then Liverpool don’t have to worry about losing their target to a rival like City. However, should they lose Salah in the near future, they will be disappointed they didn’t step up attempts to sign the 24-year-old.

Glasgow Rangers academy product Charlie Lindsay is the latest in a long line of Northern Irishmen to make the trip from Belfast to Glasgow, following in the footsteps of his idol Steven Davis, who is an integral part of Steven Gerrard’s side.

Whilst the teenage starlet still has quite some way to go, he could soon be challenging Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Joe Aribo, Bongani Zungu and Davis for a place in the starting line-up in the not too distant future.

Lindsay became the youngest ever Glentoran first team player when he made his debut as a substitute at the Oval in the County Antrim Shield victory over Ballyclare Comrades last year, leaving David Lowry to describe him as a “powerful” player who “ticks so many boxes.”

The Glentoran academy coach has tipped the teenager for the very top. He told Belfast Live: “He is a box-to-box midfielder who covers every blade of grass.

“He is powerful and quick, and his range of passing is first class. He also knows when to pick a pass, and then he delivers it with precision. He ticks so many boxes as a footballer.

“It is a great success story for the Academy and one we are very proud of,” Lowry added.

“All the young lads are very grounded and have the right attitude. That can take you a long way in football.

“Charlie epitomises all that, and that’s why he is rated so highly by Glentoran and Rangers. He has the potential to go very far, and he has a good family behind him.”

The fact that the 16-year-old has made it clear he wants to play for the club should excite every Rangers fan, especially when you consider the fact that he wants to emulate the achievements of his countryman, as he told the BBC: “I had a few other clubs showing interest, but I knew right from the first time I went over to Rangers that they were the team for me.

“Signing for them is a dream come true – I grew up as a Rangers fan. I never once felt like a trialist over there and just knew I would join them if they ever made an offer.

It’s hard to pick holes in Gerrard’s side but scoring goals from midfield is perhaps something he is lacking right now – as only Arfield and Aribo have scored more than once in all competitions so far.

Lindsay won the MVP award at the Alkass tournament in Doha earlier this year, having scored more goals than players in the same age group from the likes of European giants Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

Just like Aribo, Gerrard can deploy the young beast as an attacking midfielder who can also play on the wing, which is also a tactic he has used with Arfield as well at times this season.

If Lindsay can continue to impress like this, it may not be too long before he finds himself training with the first team.

ذكرت تقارير صحفية إسبانية، أن رئيس ريال مدريد، فلورنتينو بيريز، كان قد أبدى موافقته على بيع إيدين هازارد، في نافذة الانتقالات القادمة.

وارتبط أكثر من لاعب في ريال مدريد، بإمكانية الرحيل عن صفوف الملكي، وعلى رأسهم الدولي البلجيكي إيدين هازارد، في ظل معاناته مع المرينجي مُنذ الانتقال إلى الفريق.

وكانت تقارير صحفية قد ذكرت الأسبوع الماضي أن نيوكاسل يونايتد عرض على ريال مدريد 50 ليون يورو، من أجل التعاقد مع هازارد.

وعانى هازارد من أكثر من إصابة على مستوى الكاحل مُنذ الانتقال إلى ريال مدريد قبل ثلاثة أعوام في 2019 قادمًا من تشيلسي وبالكاد خاض مباريات مع الملكي.

وحسب صحيفة “elnacional” الإسبانية، فإن بيريز كان قد وافق بالفعل على بيع هازارد إلى نيوكاسل، خاصًة وأن البلجيكي خرج من حسابات مدرب الفريق الإيطالي، كارلو أنشيلوتي.

Alex Iwobi is edging ever close to being shown the door at Goodison Park after Carlo Ancelotti overlooked the Nigerian forward against Newcastle United on Sunday, where Everton were without their star summer signing James Rodriguez.

Ancelotti favoured a change in shape to welcome additional central midfielders into the starting line-up in defeat to Steve Bruce’s Magpies, with Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Gomes offering the support to Dominic Calvert-Lewin with Richarlison still suspended.

Rodriguez was forced to sit out the Tyneside affair having failed to shrug a testicular injury sustained in the Merseyside Derby, but Everton chiefs remain confident the Colombian will win his race to be fit to face Manchester United this weekend, per the Liverpool Echo.

The former Real Madrid star is believed to be recovering well in the ramp-up to the Red Devils’ trip to Goodison on Saturday, allowing Ancelotti to be hopeful of recalling the 29-year-old after he missed his first Premier League fixture since joining the Blues.

Rodriguez has proven increasingly pivotal to Everton’s form this season, offering three goals and three assists in six top-flight matches, much to the delight of Ancelotti who has set out exacting demands for Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison to meet.

“I think James Rodriguez is going to help the strikers because he is a fantastic assist man,” said Ancelotti, via quotes by BT. “The target for Dominic is I hope he can reach 20 goals because he has the quality and ability, like Richarlison.

“With James at the time in Madrid, [Cristiano] Ronaldo scored 56 goals: I am not honestly going to ask Dominic to score 56 goals, but he has to try to do his best.

“We have two fantastic strikers and behind them, we have James and Sigurdsson. I think if they do not score at least 20 goals each they can have a problem with me. If I play as a striker and I have behind me James, Sigurdsson [and] Gomes, I can score goals and so they have to.”

Ancelotti’s support of Rodriguez’s talent comes in vast contrast to his apparent lack of belief in Iwobi, after snubbing the Nigerian who Marco Silva signed for up to £34million and moving away from having natural wingers on the field at Newcastle.

Going into Everton’s first defeat of the season at Southampton, Ancelotti stated that Iwobi would be offered the opportunity to play if Rodriguez was forced to sit out. But while the £50,000-per-week forward did start, he left an appalling impression and was hooked at the break.

“Alex is a player who works hard,” Ancelotti told the official Everton website. “He is fast and with his quality, he can help the team be better in certain situations.”

Those certain situations are appearing ever thinner, as Iwobi could only provide one shot, three unsuccessful crosses, complete one dribble, win four of seven ground duels and lose possession 13 times in the first half at Southampton. He then offered no shots, no dribbles, no accurate crosses, lost possession four times but offered a key ball against Newcastle, per SofaScore, having come on as a 76th-minute substitute.

Given Iwobi’s recent form when needed the most and now with just one start in six Premier League appearances, the outcast forward could soon be facing the axe permanently having already been touted for a potential departure this summer by the Mirror.

It was suggested that Iwobi was one of several fringe players that Everton were looking to offload after struggling to hit the ground running upon his arrival from Arsenal, with Director of Football Marcel Brands keen to trim the squad to a more manageable level.

Iwobi’s efforts in Everton’s recent fixtures will have done little to convince Brands and Ancelotti that he deserved to be retained, and another poor showing or again being overlooked against Manchester United if Rodriguez cannot be passed fit will surely be the final nail in his Toffees coffin.
