Charlton failed to put an end to their miserable record against south London rivals Millwall on Saturday, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat at The Den – the Addicks will have to wait even longer to put an end to their 23-year winless streak against the Lions.

Gary Rowett’s side took an early lead in the sixth minute after Shaun Hutchinson headed home, before Matt Smith scored a stoppage-time winner to leave Charlton heading back to The Valley with their tails tucked between their legs.

It was a disappointing performance from most players in red – however, one man was more culpable than others.

Before the match, we outlined how Naby Sarr should be dropped by Lee Bowyer for the south London derby, not because of his woeful 45-minute display against Preston, but because of his lack of aerial ability.

We detailed how – before the Millwall clash – Sarr had only won 1.8 aerial duels per game on average in the Championship, an inferior amount to his fellow centre-backs Jason Pearce and Tom Lockyer.

It was also mentioned how Millwall striker Matt Smith – a 6 foot 5 powerhouse – wins a huge amount of aerial battles, and could therefore dominate Sarr.

As we speak now, that preconception rang true at The Den.

Despite contributing the assist for Jonathan Leko’s goal, the 26-year-old defender was at fault for both Millwall goals after, believe it or not, being beaten in the air.

He allowed Hutchinson to get ahead of him for the first strike, before allowing the previously identified Smith to swat him aside once again to score a 91st-minute winner.

The Senegalese centre-back also committed two fouls and failed to make a single block, on a day where his ineptitude in the air cost his side dearly.

There is no reason for him to be so poor in the air given his 6 foot 5 frame, and Sarr’s awful showing proved why he should have been dropped by Bowyer for the clash.

QPR fans have taken to Twitter to show their support to Nahki Wells, after the striker apologised for his error in the 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough.The Bermuda international scored the R’s first goal of the game, before an own goal by Jonny Howson allowed Mark Warburton’s side to take a 2-1 lead into the half-time break.

Unfortunately for the Londoners and for Wells, the on-loan Burnley striker saw his attempted backpass to Joe Lumley cut out by Britt Assombalonga, before the Boro forward dinked the ball into the back of the net.

It was a costly mistake by Wells as it meant QPR left the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium with one point rather than three, although after scoring eight Championship goals already this season, the R’s supporters on Twitter have found it easy to forgive the 29-year-old attacker.

One fan said “don’t be silly” in response to Wells’ apology, whereas another said that they respect him for doing so despite there being no need for the striker to apologise.

وعلى الجانب الآخر، أكد جون إدوارد أن النيجيري جونيرو أجاي يملك عروضا أوروبية كثيرة بعد تألقه مع الأهلي، مُشيرا إلى أنه لا يفكر فيها في الوقت الحالي.

وواصل: “الأهلى بدأ فتح ملف تمديد تعاقد اللاعب وسوف نعلن كافة التفاصيل قريباً”.

وأتم: “خلال 15 يوماً سيعود جونيور أجاي للجرى في الملعب تمهيداً لمشاركته في التدريبات الجماعية للأهلي”.

تأهل مانشستر يونايتد لنهائي الدوري الأوروبي “يوربا ليج” على حساب روما الإيطالي، رغم هزيمته في مباراة إياب نصف النهائي بنتيجة (3-2).

واستفاد مانشستر يونايتد من فوزه الكبير في مباراة الذهاب بملعب “أولد ترافورد”، التي انتهت لصالحه (6-2)، ليتأهل للنهائي بمجموع المبارايتين (8-5).

وحل مانشستر يونايتد ضيفًا على روما، ليلة الخميس، بملعب “الأولمبيكو” في روما.

وافتتح إدينسون كافاني التسجيل للضيوف بهدف أحرزه في الدقيقة 39 من عمر اللقاء.

ثم تعادل إدين دجيكو لروما في الدقيقة 57، وأضاف كريستانتي الهدف الثاني للجيلاروسي في الدقيقة 60.

وتمكن كافاني من تسجيل الهدف الثاني له ولمانشستر يونايتد في الدقيقة 68.

وسجل نيكولا زاليفسكي هدف روما الثالث بحلول الدقيقة 83.

According to Italian outlet FC Inter News, Manchester United are amongst a host of clubs scouting Dejan Kulusevski.

What’s the word?

The Atalanta youngster is currently enjoying an impressive campaign whilst on loan at fellow Italian side Parma, notching two goals and providing a further five assists.

Now, FC Inter News claim that his fine form has attracted the attention of several clubs, with scouts from United, Arsenal and Southampton drawing up “more than flattering reviews” about the versatile forward.

The report further adds however that the Red Devils may have to wait till next summer to land the 19-year-old’s signature, with the Swede happy to wait and enjoy more regular first-team football with Parma.

Fits the puzzle

Predominantly a right-winger, Kulusevski would instantly help to solve United’s glaring lack of real quality and options in that position. Currently, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been using the likes of Daniel James, Andreas Pereira and even Juan Mata from there, and so the Red Devils could desperately do with a sprinkle of added magic from the flank.

In Kulusevski, they would be getting exactly that. As per Whoscored, he averages a very impressive 2.3 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game, and that ability to find the killer ball for his fellow teammates to feed on is exactly what the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial will be dreaming about. The 19-year-old’s five assists in Serie A is good enough to put him in joint-second in the league’s rankings, only behind Luis Alberto (8).

Parma director Alessandro Lucarelli paid him a remarkable compliment when speaking about him earlier this season.

“Kulusevski is a born talent. For this reason, Atalanta gave him only a dry loan (one without an option to buy clause) because they knew his qualities. He has an incredible maturity.”

If the Red Devils can eventually seal a deal for this “born talent”, he could no doubt prove to be an inspired signing for a position they could really do with some extra quality in.

Sheffield Wednesday must shake off their uncertain future when they return to Championship action this weekend.

The Owls face a tough trip to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion, and with the strong possibility of the club facing a points deduction sometime in the future, they must rack up as many positive results as possible.

Recent matches have seen a worrying trend emerge as Garry Monk’s side have rued their lack of late game management – had they not conceded so many goals in the dying stages, then they could well be sat much nearer their upcoming opposition.

On the Chalkboard

The 40-year-old will be tasked with a selection dilemma across the pitch as many players will have used the time off during the international break to resolve any niggles and injuries.

In defence lies the biggest decision of all as Monk pretty much has all of his options available, including the unseen David Bates, who played for the U23s last week.

Last time out against Swansea City, captain Tom Lees made his return to the side after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and it didn’t exactly go to plan as the Owls conceded two goals and only managed to garner a solitary point despite taking the lead in the 91st minute.

He replaced Julian Borner, who was only absent through a virus, meaning he should certainly be back to play this weekend.

This will leave Monk with a problem as it is likely to be his captain versus August’s Player of the Month for one of the two spots at centre-half with Dominic Iorfa claiming the other.

The Wednesday chief must revert back to his tried and tested defence, the one that had kept four clean sheets in nine league matches.

He may be torn between being loyal to both players, but in their current circumstances, it would make sense to opt for what has been proven to work.

Borner averages more clearances (4.4), interceptions (1.5) and tackles (1) per game than Lees, via WhoScored, while he also ranks as their second-best player with an average rating of 7.15.

If he wasn’t their captain, then this decision would be a no-brainer based on those figures alone.

Europa League contention combined with injuries has made Nuno Santo’s job all that more difficult, but that hasn’t stopped him from pulling off a few genius tactical decisions.

His transformation of Adama Traore has been seen since early doors with the Spanish winger well on his way to a career-year with two goals and six assists, while Leander Dendoncker has made his new centre-back role his own with a string of fine performances.

And now, the Portuguese chief has only gone and done it again. This time with Romain Saiss, who seems to be the man tasked with filling Willy Boly’s void.

His showing against Bournemouth showed exactly why Nuno has trusted him with such a responsibility, and it also only speaks volumes about how tactically spot on the boss has been recently.

Per SofaScore, Saiss won 75% of his aerial duels, recorded a huge nine clearances and managed to still display his ball-playing abilities with a passing accuracy of 91%.

Only one team has lost fewer matches than Wolves in this current Premier League season – Liverpool, who are some eight points clear of second-placed Leicester City.

This sort of achievement only emphasises how well Nuno has his side playing, and it is decisions like this one with Saiss that are testament to his managerial ability.

The Molineux-based side are continuing to perform even with gaping holes in their defence. Technically, all of their back three on Saturday were midfielders with Conor Coady’s career shift just yet another example of Nuno’s clever mind.

وأردف قائد المنتخب المصري أن اللاعبين لديهم حافز قوي لتقديم مستوى يليق بالكرة المصرية والفوز باللقب الذي يقام على أرض مصر.

تعرض الدولي السنغالي، إدوارد ميندي، حارس مرمى فريق تشيلسي، لإصابة أجبرته على عدم استكمال مباراة أستون فيلا في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

تشيلسي يواجه أستون فيلا خارج قواعده على ملعب “فيلا بارك”، ضمن لقاءات الجولة الثامنة والثلاثين والأخيرة من البريميرليج.
