Moyes driving Everton chiefs to new contract offer for star who Dyche loved

Everton are now expected to offer a new contract to a key player who David Moyes is counting on moving forwards, according to a recent report.

Latest Everton news

It’s another point on the board at Brentford this week for the Toffees, who have now all but confirmed their Premier League status for another season. But while David Moyes won’t admit his side are safe, behind the scenes the club are putting plans in place in preparation for next season.

Friedkin now think they've sealed a deal for top off-field Everton target

Everton could be closing in on an impressive addition for off-field matters.

ByBrett Worthington Feb 27, 2025

It has now emerged that The Friedkin Group are confident that a deal is done to bring Angus Kinnear to Everton from Leeds United. It is claimed that while Kinnear remains well respected at Elland Road by the 49ers and chairman Paraag Marathe, there is real confidence from TFG that he will be at Goodison Park for the start of next season, as he is believed to be interested in a fresh start elsewhere.

Luis Henrique for Marseille.

That is great news for the Toffees, as they can potentially switch their focus to transfers now. Signing a new winger seems to be a top priority for Everton and Moyes, as they have been linked with a few players who play in that position.

It’s been reported that Marseille’s Luis Henrique is of interest to Everton and could replace Jack Harrison if he returns to Leeds. Meanwhile, Manor Solomon is also on Everton’s radar, as Tottenham are willing to sell the player for between £10-20 million after his impressive loan at Elland Road.

Everton to offer new contract to £130,000-p/w star

The Toffees are only working on transfers now, as according to Africa Foot relayed by Sport Witness, Everton are expected to offer a new contract to midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, whose current deal expires in the summer.

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure

The report states that Everton are keen to keep hold of the 32-year-old beyond this current campaign, and an extension is on the cards, with him expected to sign a new deal until the summer of 2027.

Doucoure, who was labelled a “shining light” by former manager Sean Dyche, has been at Goodison Park since September 2020. The midfielder has been a key player for the Toffees in every season, playing a minimum of 25 games in the Premier League. Since Moyes arrived back at Everton, Doucoure has continued to be a regular in the team, starting six of the eight league games they have played.

This update claims that Moyes is counting on the Mali international beyond this season, as he’s made a big impact since his return. Doucoure is Everton’s highest earner, on £130,000 a week at Goodison Park, but it is unlikely Everton are going to increase that weekly wage, given the financial issues that have arisen in recent years.

The Premier League side have a few players coming to the end of their contracts this summer, so it makes sense for Moyes to keep hold of certain individuals he feels still offer something to him and the team, even if it is in the short term.

A equipe esteve bem.

É opção do treinador mudar – concluiu.

Match Abandoned The T20I tri-series match between South Africa and India was washed out, two overs into the game, due to persistent rain in East London. Both teams share a point each. While it dampens their preparation ahead of the T20 World Cup next month, the washout is inconsequential to the tri-series as India and South Africa had sealed a place in the final.India captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and chose to bat. In a big boost, the visitors had seam-bowling allrounder Pooja Vastrakar replacing Amanjot Kaur. This was Vastrakar’s first outing for India since September but rain played spoilsport.India opened with Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues, who got off the mark with a four over cover, before making way for the covers. The rain never stopped and the match was called off eventually. For South Africa, senior pace bowler Shabnim Ismail returned after missing out on the first three games of the series. Replacing Masabata Klaas, Ismail started off with a maiden over. They had also faced each other in the opening match of the series, where India won by 27 runs.India are unbeaten in the series, with West Indies – the third team – already eliminated with a game left.

UCL club make first contact to sign "crucial" Leeds star in blow for Farke

As Leeds United continue their push for Championship promotion, one Champions League club have reportedly already made contact in pursuit of dealing Daniel Farke a frustrating blow once the summer rolls around.

Leeds transfer news

With just 11 games remaining, the Whites sit top of the Championship with five points separating themselves and Burnley in third. As things stand, Farke’s side will be playing in the Premier League next season. As Elland Road knows so well, however, nothing is guaranteed in England’s second division and Leeds will be desperate to get back to winning ways after a frustrating 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion last time out.

Meanwhile, the 49ers could yet commence their search for potential summer reinforcements sooner rather than later with the Premier League in mind. All it takes is one look at Southampton, Ipswich Town and Leicester City to know just how important recruitment is and Leeds will be hoping to avoid repeating their mistakes.

At the same time, however, the Yorkshire club will also be focused on keeping hold of key players following reports that one man has particularly attracted interest from around Europe.

£30m star failed big time at Leeds, now he's outscoring Summerville

Leeds United have been the home to numerous stars, including one player who’s now outscoring Crysencio Summerville.

ByEthan Lamb Mar 5, 2025

According to Football Transfers in the Netherlands, Feyenoord have now made contact over signing Pascal Struijk this summer and are committed to signing the Leeds defender ahead of interest from Tottenham Hotspur in the coming months.

A key man under Farke, Struijk is a player who’s ready to step back in the Premier League. Leeds will just be hoping that it’s with them rather than Spurs. The interest of Feyenoord could also spoil that plan altogether, with the Dutch club likely to be in a position to offer some form of European football next season.

Given that their own defensive star, David Hancko, has received reported interest of his own from the likes of Liverpool, Feyenoord could yet be forced to go all out in pursuit of a replacement this summer.

Leeds must keep hold of "crucial" Struijk

If Leeds needed any further motivation to earn their way back into the Premier League this season, then recent interest in Struijk’s signature should be more than enough encouragement. A place back in England’s top flight could quickly fend off any interest from Spurs and end Feyenoord’s attempts to welcome the Dutchman back to his home country this summer.

Farke has been aware of the defender’s importance for some time, telling reporters in the early stages of last season: “He adapted well to my demands and he’s played a crucial part. We don’t have to talk about his skills with the ball. I’m very pleased with his development.”

If there were still some waiting to be convinced about his quality too, then Struijk’s recent last-gasp winner against promotion rivals Sunderland should have put an end to that doubt once and for all.

With Feyenoord chasing his signature, promotion is more important than ever if Leeds want to keep hold of Struijk this summer.

Chelsea sold dream Jackson upgrade who's scored 89 times since leaving

Chelsea’s hunt for a striker has been going on for nearly 12 months now, with boss Enzo Maresca targeting a new centre-forward ever since his appointment during the summer.

Countless players have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the past few months, with Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney just two of the names thrown into the mix.

However, the Italian is yet to land the talisman he craves in West London, potentially providing a huge boost in their chances of returning to Premier League glory in the coming years.

Chelsea manager EnzoMarescabefore the match

The summer will provide a fresh opportunity to delve back into the transfer market to try and finally end their pursuit, with owner Todd Boehly needing to get his chequebook out once again.

It’s crucial that the Blues land a player who would provide an upgrade on the options currently at Maresca’s disposal, dropping one player down the pecking order as a result.

Nicolas Jackson’s stats for Chelsea in 2024/25

Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson joined Chelsea back in the summer of 2023, looking to cement his place as a regular starter for the Blues at the top end of the pitch.

Fast-forward 18 months, the 23-year-old has certainly done just that, scoring 26 times before his injury lay-off and becoming Maresca’s number one striking option.

Chelsea'sNicolasJacksonlooks dejected after AFC Bournemouth's Justin Kluivert score

However, there’s still been a few question marks around his goal-scoring ability due to his wasteful nature in the final third, as seen by his tally of 15 big chances missed with only two players managing more in the league this campaign.

Jackson has also been dispossessed 1.7 times per 90 to date, often struggling to make the ball stick, with the club desperately needing a focal point to take them to the next level.

Undoubtedly, a proven goal scorer in today’s market is likely to cost a fortune, but the club have already made a huge mistake in allowing one talent to leave for a bargain fee.

The talisman who’s scored 89 goals since leaving Chelsea

Chelsea’s academy setup has provided numerous stars over the years, handing numerous managers the opportunity to be a success during their spell in charge at the Bridge.

However, players are also offloaded to balance the books, with striker Dominic Solanke one of those who falls into such a category – departing in a £3m deal to join Liverpool in 2017.

The Englishman was once seen as a player with huge potential in West London, scoring countless times at various youth levels, before notching seven goals during his first professional loan at Vitesse.

His lack of first-team action with his boyhood side would lead to his departure, having the opportunity to impress under Jürgen Klopp at Anfield, scoring just once before a permanent move to Bournemouth a year later.

The move to the South Coast would kickstart his career into life, registering 77 goals for the Cherries during his six years at the Vitality, which saw him notch 19 goals in his final season at the club during 2024/25.

Such form led to a club-record £65m move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer, offering a replacement for Harry Kane, and wasting no time in impressing – as seen by his tally of 11 goals in all competitions for the Lilywhites, taking his tally to 89 goals since leaving the Blues.

The aforementioned figure is also higher than that of current first-team star Jackson, outscoring the Senegalese international but also outperforming him when delving into their respective stats in 2024/25.

Given his rise to stardom, coupled with his ability to find the back of the net at the top level, it’s safe to say the Blues made a huge mistake in allowing him to depart the club – with their loss now Spurs’ gain in their own hunt for European success.

Jackson has been a solid option in recent times, but if the Blues are to progress to the next level under Maresca, it’s pivotal that a new striker is signed this summer – missing a trick by allowing Solanke to leave with the 27-year-old possessing all the tools to be their leading talisman going forward.

Thunder win low-scoring thriller, will face Heat in Eliminator

Sydney Thunder survived a wobbly chase to secure a BBL finals berth after a tense three-wicket victory over Melbourne Stars at the MCG.The finals positioning came down to the last match of this riveting regular season with Thunder needing a win to leapfrog Hobart Hurricanes, who had pushed into the top five after a remarkable two-run victory over Brisbane Heat earlier in the day.Eerily similar to that game in Launceston, it went down to the wire after a nervy Thunder almost botched their chase of 120.But Thunder, who have been up and down all season, did enough in a see-saw of a contest to claim fourth place and will host an elimination final on Friday against fifth-placed Heat.It ended another underachieving season for Stars, who finished bottom of the ladder with just three wins.ESPNcricinfo Ltd
