Knight, England’s captain, was also the pick of the bowlers before helping chase down a target of 169 with more than 20 overs to spare.Having chosen to bat, Sri Lanka posted a 50 stand for the first wicket before Knight removed Hasini Perera for 26. Her opening partner Nipuni Hansika also made 26 but was dismissed by Danielle Hazell three overs later.Sri Lanka’s top order all chipped in with scores in the 20s, captain Dilani Manodara making 27 before being caught behind of Alex Hartley’s left-arm spin, but no one could go on. Beth Langston removed Chamari Atapattu and Katherine Brunt then struck twice and Knight claimed her second with the final ball of the innings.England’s openers got off to a good start in reply, Lauren Winfield and Tammy Beaumont putting on 77 before Atapattu parted them. Beaumont went on to make 41 before falling to Inoka Ranaweera but Knight and Sciver saw England through by scoring at more than a run a ball.
Arsenal won't pay over the odds for Declan Rice this summer and will instead take a 'disciplined' approach when bidding for the midfielder, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
What's the latest transfer news involving Declan Rice?
According to The Guardian, Arsenal are 'confident' that they can land Rice this summer and have identified him as a top target to strengthen their midfield.
The report states that the Gunners want to pay around £90 million to seal a deal for the £60k-a-week ace; however, West Ham United are said to want around £100 million for his services amid further interest from Manchester United, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich.
Football Insider claim that Rice has 'verbally agreed personal terms' over a transfer to Arsenal, though both clubs are yet to come to an agreement on a fee for the player.
The 24-year-old is keen to remain in London as he plots his next steps and is enthused by the project that Mikel Arteta has created in north London.
Earlier this week, Rice captained West Ham United to a famous Europa Conference League triumph, lifting only the second European trophy in the Hammers' history after their UEFA Cup Winners' Cup triumph in 1965, as per Sky Sports.
Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Jacobs thinks that Arsenal will be 'disciplined' in their efforts to try and entice Rice to the Emirates Stadium.
Jacobs told FFC: "It's likely that the suitors may have to come in a little bit higher, but I still expect Arsenal's opening offer for Declan Rice to be under £100 million, not over the British transfer record £106 million that Chelsea paid for Enzo Fernandez. From Arsenal's point of view, what gives them confidence is two things, one I've revealed previously, Rice ideally would like to stay in London and two, he's spoken glowingly about Arsenal and Mikel Arteta. All signs point towards Rice and Arsenal, but the reason why Arsenal want to move quickly is because we know they're going to be disciplined. We know that they're going to not be reckless in what they value Rice at and we saw that with Mykhailo Mudryk."

Rice has risen to prominence in the last few years due to maintaining consistent performance levels at West Ham United and looks certain to leave the London Stadium in search of a new challenge this summer.
In 2022/23, the England international made 50 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers, registering five goals and four assists, as per Transfermarkt.
WhoScored also shows that Rice has been strong in the tackle this campaign, successfully winning an average of 2.1 challenges per match in the Premier League.
As per FBRef, the London-born midfielder has also driven West Ham United forward from the engine room this season, successfully performing 112 shot-creating actions in total.
Arsenal need to be quick to snap up Rice this off-season as interest in his services looks to be expanding due to his distinguishable qualities.

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a Premier League defender as the transfer window approaches, however, Mikel Arteta must avoid past mistakes in dodging the potential signing.
The Spaniard will be keen to make amendments to his side this summer after narrowly missing out on the league title, with depth needed in all areas to tussle with defending champions Manchester City once again.
A host of talent has been linked with a move to the Emirates already, however, the latest link should be one for the club to swipe past.
What’s the latest on Timothy Castagne to Arsenal?
As reported by Belgian outlet Het Belang van Limburg (as relayed by Sport Witness), Leicester City defender Timothy Castagne is a wanted man at Arsenal.
The news was supported by journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who claimed the right-back is seen by the Gunners as a second choice to Real Valladolid gem Ivan Fresneda.
Tavolieri added that Arsenal have ‘started the talks’ with the Foxes over the Belgian with things having the potential to ‘develop quickly’.
Is Timothy Castagne the best option for Arsenal?
Having once been described as being an “absolute liability” by members of the media, the 27-year-old made 37 appearances this season in a campaign that saw Leicester relegated to the Championship.
The right-back has some qualities that established him as a Premier League player, however, Arsenal must avoid past mistakes in the transfer window in order to fully progress after a title-challenging term.
The Gunners secured the signing of Cedric Soares from Southampton in 2020, but the Portuguese defender has failed to make an impact in north London.
While the market can be misleading when stating ‘you get what you pay for’, Arsenal could indeed seek better options than an individual that played a key role in the defence of a side that was relegated.
In 2022 when speaking on talkSPORT, former Premier League forward Darren Bent claimed that Cedric was “not good enough” for the Gunners, something that was correct, with the 31-year-old going on loan to Fulham in January 2023 where he made just six appearances.
Depth is what Arsenal need, however, it's the quality in the numbers that is critical to the north Londoners to close the gap on Pep Guardiola’s treble winners, as seen by the gulf in class following William Saliba’s injury in March and Rob Holding’s inadequate cameo.

Signing a relegated individual shouldn’t be the route that Edu follows in order to add to the squad this summer, with statistics showing that Castagne ranks far lower than the Gunners’ current options.
Ben White, who is considered Arsenal’s first-choice right-back, was dribbled past on average 0.7 times per game this season, with the Leicester defender being overcome 1.2 times per game, via Sofascore.
Although he would expectedly act as a backup to the Englishman, Arteta wouldn’t be making a significant upgrade on Cedric in signing Castagne.
When comparing the seasons of the Portuguese in 2021/22 to the Belgian this year via FBref, the numbers suggest that Cedric is actually better suited to the Spaniard’s style of play, averaging 5.09 progressive passes per 90 to the £67k-per-week defender’s 2.93.
Having progressive playing full-backs is integral to Arsenal’s playing style, and with the reported target not hitting near the heights of the Emirates’ out-of-favour player, the deal makes little sense in the club’s pursuit of another title challenge.
And as such, Arteta must avoid repeating a Cedric-esque mistake this off-season.

BCCI president Anurag Thakur has submitted a report to the Lodha Committee on Saturday, saying the board’s members have rejected adopting in total the new memorandum of association and rules. Thakur informed the committee that the 30 members opted to instead vote separately for or against each of the committee’s recommendations, which were approved by the Supreme Court of India on July 18 this year.Thakur’s report, sent via email, was filed two days after the prescribed deadline (November 3) set by the Supreme Court of India in its interim order passed on October 21; the court had asked Thakur and BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke to file an affidavit with the committee within two weeks, indicating which of the Lodha Committee’s recommendations “have been complied with, the manner of compliance and the steps adopted for securing compliance with the remaining recommendations”.It could not be confirmed whether Shirke, too, had sent a similar report to the committee. In its order, the court also said that both Thakur and Shirke should appear in person in front of the committee to explain the manner of compliance once their report had been filed.In his report, Thakur told the committee that at a special general body meeting of the board, held in Mumbai on October 1, Shirke proposed to the members that the new memorandum of association and rules, finalised by the committee and mandated by the court, be adopted completely.Thakur said he had seconded Shirke’s proposal. “All the members, however, rejected this proposal ,” Thakur noted in his affidavit. “The members further went on to state that while they were not averse to adopting the new memorandum, they had difficulties in adopting the same in totality.”Thakur pointed out that neither he nor Shirke held a vote and, despite being “armed” with the court order, he could not “force” the members. The reasoning offered by the members was that since the BCCI is registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975, it can amend the memorandum only when three-fourths of the eligible members voted in favour of changing it.”I am thus rendered totally incapable and without any authority to force the members, who are 30 in number and have voting rights under the statute, to adopt the entire memorandum as proposed for adoption by the Hon. Lodha Committee,” Thakur said.The affidavit was submitted alongside the unauthorised draft minutes of the board’s SGM on October 1.According to Thakur, at an “informal meeting” of the board, held in Delhi on October 15, Shirke cautioned the members saying if the reforms were not adopted the court would curtail all funds to the states. Even that, Thakur told the committee, failed to change the members’ opinions. “In view of the above difficulties, the Committee may be pleased to consider issuing any further directions to Hon. President and Hon. Secretary in this regard,” Thakur concluded.Although there was no official reaction from the committee on Saturday, earlier in the week it had already predicted such a response form the board. “In the absence of the unambiguous and unequivocal letter of compliance from the President duly undertaking on behalf of BCCI to unreservedly comply with the order of Hon’ble Supreme Court dated 21.10.2016, the Committee anticipates (having regard to the consistent stance adopted by the BCCI that it has issues with regard to reforms concerning governance) that there would be impediments in carrying out the order dated 21.10.2016,” the committee said in an email to Thakur on October 29.In three emails sent on October 24, 29 and November 3, the committee had reminded the BCCI that an undertaking form Thakur to unequivocally comply with the court’s October 21 order was mandatory. Without that the committee cannot issue directions to the board on various pending decisions, including setting a new date for the IPL media rights tender, and determining the threshold value for any financial transaction of the board relating to future contracts.The Lodha Committee – comprising former Chief Justice of India RM Lodha and retired Supreme Court judges Ashok Bhan and R Raveendran – was formed in January 2015 to determine appropriate punishments for some of the officials involved in the 2013 IPL corruption scandal, and also to propose changes to streamline the BCCI, reform its functioning, prevent sporting fraud and conflict of interest.

Celtic officially confirmed the arrival of Brendan Rodgers as their replacement for Ange Postecoglou in the dugout at Parkhead on a three-year deal earlier this week.
The Northern Irish tactician, who left Leicester City earlier this year, is now tasked with replicating the immense success he enjoyed during his first spell in Scotland.
Rodgers won seven trophies in less than three years at Paradise and The Scottish Sun have reported that the 50-year-old boss will be handed a whopping £30m to work with in the summer transfer window in order to rake in more major honours.
One such investment could be on a player named Zan Vipotnik.
Who is Zan Vipotnik?
Football Scotland claimed last month that the Hoops are one of a number of clubs interested in signing Zan Vipotnik, a 21-year-old striker currently playing for Maribor in Slovenia.
Rodgers must now push to make the young centre-forward his first signing of the summer and use the significant budget that Dermot Desmond and the rest of the board are set to back him with, as the attacker could be an excellent alternative or partner to Kyogo Furuhashi.

Maribor reportedly value the Slovenia international at £3.5m. It is not hard to see why they want a multi-million-pound fee for their player when you consider his impressive form in the 22/23 campaign.
Vipotnik, who talent scout Jacek Kulig described as a "poacher", plundered an eye-catching 20 goals and one assist in 30 Prva Liga outings and produced three goals in four domestic cup matches.
This means that the prolific hotshot registered one goal every 1.48 games in Slovenian football, which shows that he knows how to be consistent in the penalty area.
The four-cap marksman, who also struck ten times in 14 clashes for Triglav Kranj earlier in his career, could come in at Celtic and be another incredible forward option for Rodgers alongside Kyogo, who was the only Hoops attacker with more than 11 Scottish Premiership goals last term.
His 27-strike campaign in the division was enough to secure him the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award and there is, therefore, little doubt that the Japanese finisher will be a huge player for the new manager next season.
However, bringing in a player of Vipotnik's potential quality – if he is able to translate his form over to Scottish football – could provide Kyogo with serious competition for his place and give Rodgers the option to go with both of them as a pairing up front, which could frighten opposition defenders with their incredible respective records in front of goal.

Not officially, of course, but the idea of an annual one-day series between Australia and New Zealand was quietly forgotten. It was as if these neighbours, until then welcoming each other with open arms, had fallen out over some petty matter like a tree hanging over the back fence. When they crossed paths at someone else’s place, they would nod politely – as when the trophy was put up for grabs in their match at the 2011 World Cup in India – but neither would invite the other into their home. But at the World Cup last year, they kissed and made up, decided that actually that tree had plenty of tasty fruit, and why couldn’t they just share it, after all.As a result, having gone nearly six years without a standalone Chappell-Hadlee series, we now have three in the space of 12 months. In February, New Zealand won at home. The teams now meet in Australia, and next February, they again play in New Zealand. It is curious scheduling for both sides. New Zealand rushed to Australia the day after winning a home Test series against Pakistan, but at least they can stay in white-ball mode for a while: their next commitments are home ODIs and T20s against Bangladesh. Australia have switched almost as quickly from Test mode, but unlike New Zealand, they must hastily change back into a Test mindset as soon as these three games are over, as they host Pakistan for three Tests.In the meantime, we can sit back and enjoy what should be a fine one-day series. If the World Cup final last year was a bit of an anticlimax, the pool game in Auckland showed how thrilling contests between these two teams can be. It was a low-scoring affair, dominated by the pace and swing of Mitchell Starc and Trent Boult – both of whom will be playing in this series – and it went down to the last wicket.
