Ryan Sessegnon shares motivational Instagram snap

[ad_pod ]

The Young Lions suffered a big defeat at the hands of the French team in the opening game of the U-21 European Championship.

Two late strikes, including an own goal, took away all of England’s points and now they face two crucial games against Romania and Croatia as they chase a chance out of the group stage.

Ryan Sessegnon played 75 minutes of that first clash before he was subbed off. Most of the players have remained quiet after that game but Fulham’s star has now posted an

If they want to advance, winning the next game is an absolute must for the Young Lions and Sessegnon knows this, sharing some motivation for his team and the fans.

The snap has received good feedback from the fans who are still hopeful England can pull through, despite their rocky start to the tournament.

Liverpool fans reminisce over glorious Xabi Alonso assist

[ad_pod ]

How do you replace a player like Xabi Alonso? Quite simply, you don’t. Liverpool may have just won a Champions League title but even the most ardent of Reds fan can attest to just how much they have missed their former Spain star over the years.

The midfield playmaker enjoyed a fine few years on Merseyside and formed one of the Premier League’s best midfield trios alongside Javier Mascherano and Kop legend Steven Gerrard.

Now, after a throwback clip was posted on Twitter of one glorious defence-splitting assist from Alonso back in 2005 against Sunderland, many Liverpool fans took to Twitter to reminisce about their ex-midfield magician.

In the clip, Alonso appears to have eyes in the back of his head, swivelling on the volley and playing a perfect blind through-ball with his weaker left foot for Luis Garcia to tuck home.

Fans of the Anfield side are mind-blown by the sheer quality on display from Alonso and one fan even says that he was “unplayable”.

Indeed, some were left gobsmacked as to how Alonso even had the vision in the first place to spot the pass and admitted that they were “gutted” when the midfielder eventually left to join Real Madrid in 2009.

A few Reds supporters even claimed that the 37-year-old was perhaps under-rated having played alongside Gerrard and should be recognised as one of the club’s finest.

Celtic fans were pleased to see Vakoun Bayo in action on Saturday

[ad_pod ]Celtic fans enjoyed seeing striker Vakoun Bayo in action for the first-team on Saturday, as Neil Lennon’s side ran out 2-1 winners over Austrian outfit Wiener SC.Bayo has only played a few minutes of competitive action for the Hoops since January after suffering an injury that ruled him out of making an impact towards the end of last season.Celtic fans aren’t happy about Arsenal’s bid for one of their key players…Signed after a prolific period of scoring with Slovakian top-flight side Dunajska Streda, he’s one of three senior strikers at the club currently alongside Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths. The 22-year-old scored the winner on Saturday with a classy finish on the half volley, coming towards the end of a solid 45 minutes that suggests he can play a competent back up role to the first-choice Edouard. It’ll now be interesting to see where he fits into Lennon’s plans moving forward as the club continue to prepare for European qualifiers in July and August.Watch Celtic Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Fans certainly want to see more of him, taking to Twitter over the weekend to share their thoughts on his display…

Leeds fans are disappointed with loan exit as Lewie Coyle departs again

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United announced on Friday that Lewie Coyle has left the Championship club to return on loan to Fleetwood Town until January 2020.

Coyle came through the youth system at Elland Road and has made 23 first-team appearances for the Whites in all competitions.

The 23-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan with Fleetwood, however, and has now returned to the club until the January transfer window.

It is difficult to imagine that there is a future for Coyle at Leeds.

After all, the defender is not exactly a spring chicken and has not secured a minute of action for the Whites since the 2016-17 season.

A number of Leeds fans have been on social media offering their views on the latest loan move.

And it would be fair to say that a number disagree with the situation as many want him to simply depart on a permanent deal.

Rangers starlet Hastie could be big benefactor of Kent’s pre-season form

[ad_pod ]

Ryan Kent’s impressive Liverpool pre-season form appears to have dented his chance of a Rangers return, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

What’s the story?

Steven Gerrard has made no secret of wanting to bring the winger back to Rangers after an impressive loan last season. Yet with Kent impressing Jurgen Klopp in pre-season, playing a part in all three Reds goals in their recent win against Bradford, it now looks like a deal is improbable.

Kent has been named in Klopp’s squad for their tour of the USA after doing well in their friendlies so far, and Gerrard will surely not want to be pursuing transfers in several weeks time, deep into the club’s Europa League qualification run.

The 22-year-old won Young Player of the Year in Scotland last season and looks to be continuing his form into this pre-season. With games against Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Sporting Lisbon to come on the USA tour, Kent could make a case for a first-team place at Anfield if he continues his great form.

Check out the below above to see football played as you’ve never seen it before… in a maze!

Boost for Jake Hastie

Gerrard has moved quickly to strengthen his wide areas this summer with a number of his eight signings capable of replicating Kent’s role. Greg Stewart, Sheyi Ojo, Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie are all attacking players more than capable of performing well on the flank.

Kent staying with the Merseyside outfit for a while longer could give Hastie the chance to show what he’s capable of too. The 20-year-old was signed from Motherwell after an impressive season but was expected to be shipped out on loan.

Yet with Kent not arriving, for now at least, and Gerrard stating his desire to keep Hastie at the club, the winger suddenly has a golden opportunity.

Gerrard has said: “The idea now will be to keep him here, to get him used to Rangers and his team-mates.

“He will get opportunities to play and shine, then we’ll go from there. I’m delighted to have him, he’s got a huge future.”

With Gerrard clearly keen to see what he can do and no sign of an imminent arrival for Kent, now is the perfect time Hastie to step up and replicate some of his Motherwell form.

Liverpool’s transfer stance on Nabil Fekir proven right after cut-price Real Betis move

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

It was one of the biggest transfer sagas in recent memory, and one that dominated the entirety of last summer.

Will Nabil Fekir join Liverpool? When will James Pearce announce Fekir? Will he be as good as Philippe Coutinho was?

These were the questions that may have been rushing around the Anfield faithful’s heads, and their queries looked set to be answered in the near future as the France international underwent a medical ahead of a £53m move.

However, Liverpool pulled the plug on the deal at the 11th hour and decided not to sign the player who was desperate to play under Jurgen Klopp.

Check out some amazing tekkers in the video below…

Enough concerns arose from Fekir’s medical for the Reds to pull out, and it would’ve presumably been news to disappoint some Reds supporters judging by how keen they were for the attacker to be announced – it was certainly brave of the Merseysiders to abandon the transfer given how long the saga panned out for.

But, Liverpool seem to have been proven right to do what they did.

Eyebrows may have been raised at the medical concerns seeing as Fekir has missed just ten games with injury since rupturing his cruciate ligament back in 2015, but the 26-year-old’s eye-catching move to Real Betis seems to suggest Liverpool were right.

It is not just the fact that no other clubs apart from Betis were seriously in for the man who has 69 goals for Lyon at any point this summer, but it is the price tag itself which sparks confusion.

The Spanish side paid just an initial £17.75m to bring Fekir to La Liga, with £9.8m in add-ons. For a player to leave for over £30m less than he was valued at last summer – with no serious impacting incidents of note happening since – suggests Liverpool were right.

Additionally, at that price, why would no-one else get involved for a player who won the World Cup last summer and was on the radar of Chelsea as well as Liverpool?

It just seems baffling that nobody else would take a punt on him for such a slender fee, unless there was something seriously troubling about the player’s body.

Whatever the truth may be, Liverpool appear to have made the right decision judging by the lack of interest in Fekir and the price tag he now merits.

A £53m bullet well and truly dodged.

Tottenham fans love reported deal involving Sessegnon

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur fans are delighted over reports that a deal for Ryan Sessegnon could see Josh Onomah and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou move to Fulham.

A Daily Telegraph report has claimed that the 19-year-old is set to move to Spurs for a fee of around £20m.

And the piece claims that the Championship club could then reinvest that money as they look to secure both of the Spurs outcasts.

Onomah and Nkoudou have endured chequered spells at the club, making a combined two starts in the Premier League.

Ironically, the latter’s last outing for the club came in a 2-1 win over Fulham in the Premier League, as he provided the late assist for Harry Winks to score the winner in injury time.

And fans are in awe of the negotiating skills of chairman Daniel Levy, as he has seemingly secured a deal for a highly-rated teenager who has already had Premier League exposure and caps at England youth level, while also shifting two players who can clearly be regarded as deadwood.

Newcastle fans divided by Rafael Benitez chant

[ad_pod ]

A quick look through Lee Ryder’s Twitter feed on Tuesday night reveals plenty of fans’ verdicts on pre-season performances, but there’s one tweet that has got everyone talking.

Of course, we’re talking about the news that the Toon Army sang Rafael Benitez’s name loud and proud before their friendly match against Hibernian, and Ryder’s reporting of the incident has completely divided the fans.

The tweet has over 100 replies, after the Magpies’ travelling support belted out Rafa’s name before beating Hibs 3-1.

Joelinton, Sean Longstaff and Jamaal Lascelles all got on the scoresheet and Steve Bruce spoke about transfers after the match, but all that seems to have gone on the backburner as fans intensely discuss the Benitez chant.

Plenty of fans are branding it “embarrassing”, clearly wanting their fellow Geordies to focus on the here and now, support the team and get behind the new manager.

Some however refuse to simply show unwavering support to a manager they deem to be a puppet for Mike Ashley.

Just take a look at some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

Liverpool fans mock Manchester United’s £85m deal for Harry Maguire

[ad_pod ]

Lots of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to mock Manchester United’s £85m deal for Harry Maguire.

Talk of a move to Old Trafford for the England international seems to have been going on all summer, but it looks as if the Red Devils are finally about to land their man after agreeing to the substantial price for the 26-year-old.

It will be a new world-record fee for a defender, surpassing the £75m that Liverpool spent on Virgil van Dijk when signing him from Southampton back in January 2018.

Obviously, whereas the Dutchman is now a candidate for the Ballon d’Or and FIFA’s The Best award, the Reds supporters have been quick to take to Twitter and mock United’s deal for Maguire seeing as he has achieved very little in comparison.

It is a crazy amount of money to pay for a player who has never appeared in the Champions League, but that is the market we find ourselves in nowadays.

Let’s take a look at what the Liverpool supporters on Twitter have been saying about the deal…

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi handed huge setback by Unai Emery

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

The tale of Shkodran Mustafi’s Arsenal career isn’t a brilliant one.

He’s a player who has caused debate among Arsenal fans on a regular basis and that was the case once again during pre-season.

The German hadn’t even set foot on the field in a competitive game in 2019/20 before already taking sly digs from supporters.

But this isn’t new for Mustafi who has been booed by fans over the last few months.

[ad_pod ]

Yet, despite Laurent Koscielny’s departure, the future isn’t looking too much brighter for the 27-year-old. This could have been a chance for the centre-back to prove himself, but instead, Unai Emery isn’t giving him the platform to do so.

And rightly so. The central defender is too error-prone and a horrific mistake to allow Wilfried Zaha in to score against Crystal Palace last term sums that up.

Only last week, the Arsenal manager hinted that Mustafi could be on his way out.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to Newcastle he said: “I spoke with him when we finished last season, I spoke with him when we started pre-season and I spoke with him also two weeks ago saying maybe there was the possibility he can leave.”

Judging by fans’ latest comments it will come as a huge relief to see him walk out of the Emirates and after being excluded from the matchday squad on the opening weekend, he’s just been handed another huge message.

Watch Arsenal Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

After all, Calum Chambers, a player who was seemingly all but done in terms of his Arsenal career a year ago is now ahead of him in the pecking order.

The new addition of David Luiz is also another bitter blow.

However, this could well be the final nail in the coffin for Mustafi. Being left out of the squad entirely on Sunday is a sign that he simply isn’t good enough and tells you a lot about what Emery thinks about him.

With the European transfer window yet to close, there is still a possibility that he could leave permanently.
