Fulham handed Harrison Reed transfer boost

Fulham have been handed a huge boost to their hopes of keeping Harrison Reed at Craven Cottage this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by the Yorkshire Evening Post, who claim that, despite the 26-year-old being heavily linked with Leeds United in recent weeks, the central midfielder is not currently on Victor Orta’s list of summer targets.

Indeed, a report by the Daily Mail earlier this month had claimed Marcelo Bielsa’s side, along with a host of other Premier League clubs, were monitoring the Fulham star ahead of a potential move this summer, however, this does not appear to be the case – regarding Leeds, at least.

Fans will be buzzing

Having highly impressed during his two seasons with Scott Parker’s side thus far, the news that Reed does not look likely to be targeted by Leeds United this summer is sure to have left fans Fulham buzzing.

Indeed, in his first season at the club back in 2019/20, the £9m-rated defensively minded midfielder registered one assist and created one big chance for his teammates over 25 Championship appearances, as well as making an average of 1.4 interceptions, 1.9 tackles and winning 4.5 duels per game.

These metrics saw the £31k-per-week man earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.81, ranking him as the Cottagers’ joint 16th-best performer in the second tier, playing a huge role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League that season.

Upon this promotion, the former England U20 international once again impressed for Parker’s side, registering two assists and creating two big chances for his teammates over 31 Premier League appearances, in addition to making an average of 1.6 interceptions, two tackles and winning four duels per match.

These returns saw the 26-year-old earn a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.90, ranking him as the club’s 11th-best performer in the top flight of English football, although Reed did not manage to save his side from relegation back to the Championship.

As such, if Fulham were to lose the man who has been dubbed an “immense” player by his former teammate Shane Long, it would undoubtedly reduce the chances of the Cottagers going on to secure an immediate return to the top flight of English football next season.

As the former Southampton gem has proven in his two years in west London that he is now very much an essential part of the Fulham midfield.

Das 250 secures big Indian total

Shiv Sunder Das completed 250 as India extended their total to an imposing 516 before being bowled out at Chelmsford

Stephen Lamb15-Aug-2002Shiv Sunder Das completed 250 as India extended their total to an imposing 516 before being bowled out at Chelmsford. In reply Essex reached 173 for three by stumps on the second day.Das’s marathon effort included four sixes and 32 fours, and came off 380 balls. This morning he extended his partnership with Sourav Ganguly to 105 before Ganguly was stumped by Barry Hyam off James Middlebrook for 74 (two sixes, 10 fours).Das added another 78 with Ajit Agarkar before he was stumped for 20 off Timothy Phillips, who immediately added the scalp of Harbhajan Singh for a duck. Das was finally dismissed by the last ball of the innings, caught by Mark Ilott to become Phillips’ third wicket of the day.Tinu Yohannan took the first Essex wicket after Darren Robinson and Richard Clinton had put on 55, bowling Clinton for 23. Robinson was then caught by Wasim Jaffer off Harbhajan for 59, and the same combination accounted for Ravinder Bopara for 29. Andy Flower ended the day unbeaten on 45.

Ex-Rangers ace insists PL-linked star must stay - exclusive

Former Rangers defender Michael Ball insists that losing Glen Kamara would be a bitter blow for the Scottish club this summer.

Kamara is currently playing for Finland at Euro 2020, playing 90 minutes against both Denmark and Russia.

Finland won the first game 1-0 in horrifying circumstances following the collapse of Christian Eriksen, while they were beaten 1-0 in the latter.

Kamara has been a key man for Rangers since his arrival in 2018/19 and has made a total of 106 appearances for the club.

But he has been linked with a move away this summer, with Watford linked with an interest following their promotion to the Premier League from the Championship.

Kamara is valued at £5.4m by Transfermarkt but Ball insists that Rangers will want a big fee to let him go if the Hornets decide to formalise their interest with a bid ahead of their return to the top flight.

Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, he said: “Glen, a defensive midfielder, they don’t usually get the news of the strikers and the wingers but we always know that these guys do make the team tick so it would be a very important loss.

“Rangers, I’m not sure where they are financially so they probably will find it difficult to turn bids down but they will be demanding big fees for these players.”

Fit England could have real Ashes chance – Hussain

Nasser Hussain insisted that England have been through a summer of positives, despite falling short of a series win against India after the final npower Test was abandoned at The AMP Oval due to a final day wash-out.

Stephen Lamb09-Sep-2002Nasser Hussain insisted that England have been through a summer of positives, despite falling short of a series win against India after the final npower Test was abandoned at The AMP Oval due to a final day wash-out.England are unbeaten in their last three series, after drawing with New Zealand and India and beating Sri Lanka 2-0 earlier in the summer.”We are playing a lot better cricket,” the England captain said. “We have now got to move on from being a side that lost nearly everything to a side that finishes off games, which we haven’t quite done.”But there has been a lot of injuries and stuff, some pretty flat wickets as well. We have got to work out how to get 20 wickets, but there have been a lot of positives this summer – the coaching, Michael Vaughan and Marcus Trescothick.””A lot of it depends on injuries. If we can get some key bowlers fit, I think we have got a real good chance against Australia – the best chance we have had for a while.”The batting has clicked very well and if we can [now] sort out our other two disciplines, catching – which is going to be very important against them – and getting our fast bowlers quick and raring to go.”We are in much more confident mood but they are obviously the best side in the world, they have hammered South Africa, they have hammered everyone.”Hussain also heaped wholehearted praise on England’s coach. “I hope the ECB extend Duncan Fletcher’s contract because he is the singular reason why we are more successful. They should sort that out immediately because he is the finest coach I have played under.”Meanwhile India’s captain Sourav Ganguly pointed to his team’s achievement in coming back from their defeat at Lord’s, to have a chance after Headingley of winning the series.”We did not play well at Lord’s, but we knew there were three Tests to go and that we were a good side and I was happy with the way we played after that,” Ganguly said.”I thought we batted pretty well this series. I thought maybe we could have seen a bit better from the bowlers, but they have not got a lot of experience behind them and I hope they will learn from this tour.”We won the Test series in India, drew the one-day series in India, won theone-day series here and drew the Test series here so I think that will sum upwho was the best side,” Ganguly added. For all the runs scored by England’s man of the series Michael Vaughan, he insisted that the highlight of his series was with the ball.”Probably getting Sachin [Tendulkar] out [at Trent Bridge] to be honest,” Vaughan told Channel Four. “The runs are obviously delightful, but with my dribble of off-spin, to get a world-class batsman out like Sachin was pretty special.”I have been in pretty good touch all the way through. The wickets have been very flat, I have had a bit of luck, been dropped a few times – but I made them pay which is the main thing.”Rahul Dravid’s magnificent batting won him the man of the match award, and he was also made India’s man of the series.

Wolves transfer update on Sanderson

Lots of Wolves fans have been left to fume as a transfer update emerged on Dion Sanderson.

As per the Daily Mail, the Midlands club have rejected an opening bid worth £1m from Sunderland for the central defender.

They are looking to hold out for fee closer to £2m, as Cardiff City, Birmingham City, Stoke City, Luton Town and Millwall are all credited with an interest in his signature, and are closely monitoring any developments.

Both Sheffield United and Newcastle United are also said to eyeing up a potential transfer for Sanderson, who is set to be in high-demand.

The Englishman played a big part in the Black Cats reaching the EFL League One play-offs, playing in no fewer than 26 games in total in the division (Transfermarkt), and at just 21 years of age, he still has a lot of potential.

Thus, it is understandable why so many members of the Molineux faithful feel aggrieved by the opening offer.

It just was not Cricket – a thorny issue

It’s absolutely necessary to give positive support for the players in the Piton Malta Herman Griffith Primary Schools cricket competition

Andi Thornhill23-Oct-2002It’s absolutely necessary to give positive support for the players in the Piton Malta Herman Griffith Primary Schools cricket competition. It is vital at this stage, I think, to create the correct psyche in players so young because the environment in which they learn their trade is crucial in their overall development. After all, what’s learnt in the cradle lasts forever. An incident I saw at the Lumber Company ground last week has convinced me even more that youngsters do indeed need the right kind of guidance to help them to blossom.I couldn’t imagine in my wildest dreams that a teacher would pull his players off the field, thereby causing the game to end prematurely. It happened at approximately 12:05 p.m., much to the dismay of supporters of both Holy Innocents and Lawrence T. Gay.At that stage the Lawrence T. Gay batsmen were beating the stuffings out of their opponents attack . . . 156/3 was the clearest indication that they were the superior team. With 20.4 overs bowled, lo and behold the teacher called his players off the field, engaged in heated discussion with the groundsman and Lawrence T. Gay officials. Soon after, the team bus arrived and took the players away. It left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. The problem? Would you believe that after allowing so many overs to be bowled the teacher apparently suddenly realised that the pitch was too long?Admittedly, they were playing on a full-length pitch when in fact it should’ve been 18 yards according to competition regulations instead of the conventional 22 yards. The adjustment was made taking into account the age and size of the players. If the teacher raised the question about the length of the pitch as an issue, he was certainly within his rights, but the question remains: why didn’t he identify the discrepancy from the start or even well before the 20.4 overs were delivered? What made matters even worse was the crude way in which the issue was handled. You just can’t instruct 11 youngsters to leave the field just like that.In any event, if the game had been played to its logical conclusion, it means that neither side would have been disadvantaged because they would have played under the same conditions. Not only that, it would have been in order to play the game and then send in a letter of protest to the National Sports Council who would in turn make a ruling on the outcome. It was to the credit of the L. T. Gay management that they tried their very best to have the matter resolved in a civil way but the other side would have none of it.And we wonder "how the youth get so"? I know that we know.

Leeds must land EURO 2020 star Spinazzola

Leeds United must land EURO 2020 sensation Leonardo Spinazzola amid Carlton Palmer’s intriguing transfer claim.

What’s the story?

The Italy international has been one of the shining lights of EURO 2020 thus far, being a real live-wire as a left-back for Roberto Mancini’s side – in the three games he’s played, he’s assisted once, and averaged an impressive two shots, 1.7 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game.

And, speaking exclusively to This is Futbol, former Leeds man Carlton Palmer has suggested the Whites should be after a player like Spinazzola in this summer’s transfer window.

He said: “Anybody who’s got energy and can get up and down the pitch will fit into the style that Bielsa wants and the way that he’s going to play. Once you go into a European Championship and you play well and you do well, obviously you’re going to get a lot of suitors.”

EURO 2020 star

Hailed as being “electric in attack” by UEFA EURO 2020’s official Twitter account, and as “outrageously good” by ESPN’s Matteo Bonetti, Spinazzola has been in superb form in this summer’s tournament for the Azzurri.

The £17m-rated star was predominantly used as a left-sided midfielder for club side AS Roma last season, and showed his attacking threats with two goals and eight assists in 32 games in the position.

Given his ability to play more further forward, but also have the defensive awareness to be trusted by Mancini to play at left-back too, Spinazzola seems like he would be a perfect fit for Bielsa at Leeds.

Whether it’s being used as someone to rotate with Jack Harrison down that left-flank, or a more aggressive, exciting option at full-back, Spinazzola’s performances at EURO 2020 have shown him to be someone who can be a real danger going forward.

It’s a move Leeds must surely make.

Meanwhile, this Leeds United transfer target would be a major upgrade…

Marsh stars in Tasmanian win over SA

ADELAIDE, Nov 29 AAP – Tasmanian all-rounder Daniel Marsh capped a wonderful game with bat and ball, taking the crucial wicket of South Australian centurion Greg Blewett to sew up a 22-run victory in their day-night ING Cup cricket match at Adelaide

Sam Lienert29-Nov-2002ADELAIDE, Nov 29 AAP – Tasmanian all-rounder Daniel Marsh capped a wonderful game with bat and ball, taking the crucial wicket of South Australian centurion Greg Blewett to sew up a 22-run victory in their day-night ING Cup cricket match at Adelaide Oval tonight. In reply to Tasmania’s 6-282, SA made 7-260 with only some lusty hitting from SA wicketkeeper Graham Manou (56 not out from 33 balls) at the end of the innings preventing a much bigger Tigers win.Manou’s half-century came off just 29 balls, the fastest in the competition so far this season. But it came too late to detract from the superb performance of Marsh. The man of the match scored an unbeaten, inventive 62 off 50 balls at the tailend of Tasmania’s innings. He shared in a fifth wicket partnership of 92 off 77 balls with top-scorer Graeme Cunningham (77 off 77 balls) to push the Tigers to their huge total.SA looked competitive in its run-chase while skipper Blewett, who opened the innings, was at the crease.Blewett, who scored an unbeaten 109 in SA’s previous one-day match against Western Australia, made 102 from 123 balls with 13 boundaries tonight and guided the Redbacks to 4-158 in the 34th over. But Marsh, in his second over, drew a thick inside edge from an attempted lofted straight drive from Blewett and had him caught at midwicket to end SA’s hopes.None of the other batsmen in SA’s top seven reached 30, highlighting the lack of support for Blewett, who had scored almost two-thirds of his team’s runs at the time of his dismissal.Marsh also picked up the wicket of all-rounder Michael Miller near the end of the innings to finish with the excellent figures of 2-45 from nine overs.Opener Michael Dighton was another good performer for Tasmania with 60, while Shane Watson made 40 from 43 balls early in the Tigers’ innings and chimed in with 1-53 from 10 overs.Tasmanian opening bowler Damien Wright took 1-33 from 10 tight overs.Marsh said it had been a great comeback for the Tigers, after losing outright to New South Wales in a Pura Cup match in Hobart earlier in the week.”We came out and played really well, especially the batters played well today, and to win against South Australia away from home is a great effort from us,” Marsh said.”We were pretty confident when we got 280, I think it’s our highest ever score against the Redbacks, if we can’t defend that we’re going to struggle.”He said the wicket of Blewett was the key.”Greg Blewett batted particularly well and we were all pretty relieved when he got out,” he said”I was just trying to keep him to ones, stop the boundaries and try to tie up Mick Miller, who was batting at the other end.”Obviously the run-rate was going up and he had to play a risky shot, so lucky for me and the team he hit it straight to the fielder.”There were a few worrying moments when Graham Manou was hitting us around at the end there, but I think we were all pretty confident in the end.”

Many Everton fans have been left gushing as footage emerged featuring Yerry Mina.

As shared by Toffee TV on their Twitter page, the defender stepped up for Colombia in a penalty shootout against Uruguay in the Copa America and placed his effort nicely into the corner.

He then sucked his thumb and started dancing in celebration, much to the delight of many of the Goodison Park faithful.
